October's POWER BI's Updates

So… what’s new with Power BI this month? If you'd like to read about the updates to the program then below is a brief summary of the features I enjoyed the most from this month.  If you want the full experience and would like to see the new features demoed for you then check out the video Devin and I made for this month right here à October Power BI Updates    We hope this helps you along your Power BI journey.   This month has quite a few updates and here are the ones I enjoy the most.   Updated Report View If you are brand new to Power BI, this is the best update I have seen.   Now you have a nice welcoming watermark when you open the program.   The watermarks lead you to what your first step should probably be if you have never opened the program.   It also gives you the option of loading a sample dataset right from the start.   Personalize Visuals With this month’s update personalizing visuals on the service is no longer a prev...

Power BI August Updates

As always Power BI keeps you on your toes.  It can be hard to stay in the know and keep track of what the newest features are month to month.   Devin and I hope this helps you along your Power BI journey. This month has quite a few updates.   Some as simple as just saving time when selecting data points on a line chart and others way more visually advanced when considering the ArcGIS map visual.   Oh yeah and most important of all Q & A is now featured for three main direct query sources.      If you are like me and don’t always have the time to digest the article that comes out from Microsoft about the updates, check out this monthly digest video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pu9pFU6mmw .  I hope it can save you some time and help you learn what is new!

July's PowerBI Updates

As I write today’s blog, I am just a few hours shy of celebrating with friends and family (socially distanced of course) my son’s three-year-old birthday.   He officially turns three on Monday and I’m excited to have the day off.   Whoa!   Too much sharing information?   Well, this is my blog so I thought I would share how proud I am to be a dad.   It also reminds me of how much Jack teaches me daily.   Once I think I have him figured out he flips the script on me and amazes me with a new skill.   I never thought I would be able to play with Peppa the Pig for 2 hours straight, but alas, I experienced that this morning! More importantly, it seemed like ages ago when I was wondering if he would ever sit for more than 5 minutes with one activity.   As I am always learning from my son, I also find myself constantly having to learn the new features of Power BI with their monthly updates.   And that is what is great about Microsoft's Power BI - - i...

Power BI is Listening

Power BI is listening.  Not in a creepy way. But in a comforting, "I hear you and am willing to change" way.  Sounds like the perfect significant other, doesn't it!?! Each month Power BI updates its program based on users' comments and input. While this is a phenomenal trait, it does mean that things are changing frequently.  No worries, though. Here's a quick rundown on the latest updates.  APRIL's UPDATE |  Just Watch This MAY'S UPDATE  |  And Then Watch This
